Bama Rising and Chipotle Mexican Grill aid tornado recovery

June 14, 2011

The Bama Rising benefit concert sold out so fast — in less than an hour — last month, and 12,000 concert-goers will be part of this special event tonight. Whether you have a ticket or not, you can still be part of supporting the Bama Rising Fund for statewide tornado recovery at the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham.

Tonight through June 16 you can participate in the on-line auction organized by the Bama Rising promoters. You can make an on-line gift in any amount or give $10 by texting BAMA to 501501 (message and data rates may apply).

Tomorrow night, June 15, you can use your purchase of a meal at Alabama locations of Chipotle Mexican Grill to do some good. From 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at any Alabama Chipotle location, 50 percent of the proceeds will benefit the Bama Rising Fund for statewide tornado recovery.

Allentown Pennsylvania!? Bethlehem Steel! Don’t look back Birmingham. Keep drving the Industrial history of the area into the vision for the future of the City, starting with further development and connection of Sloss Furnaces with other sites and city venues. Railroad park is a wonderful step forward. So will Prize to the future be!

Wrong place for this comment! But to look both to the past and farther into to future should show how important and valuable it is to redouble all efforts to recover from the devasting storms and their sad impact. Rebuild well! If it is shoddy, its future may not have any promise. But if good thought, care, and attention to appropriate size, shape, contruction, sustainabilty, durability, safety and security are built in, there is ope for what will be built anew. And don’t forget simple beauty is sustainable.
