Birmingham Zoo blazes new trails for elephants

April 20, 2011

Two African bull elephants, Callee and Bulwagi, are awaiting visitors this weekend with the opening of Trails of Africa at the Birmingham Zoo. This mixed-species exhibit offers opportunities for fun and education, as well as the start of something new in the history of elephant conservation.

When complete, the exhibit will be the first in the world featuring a herd of African bull elephants in a natural setting. Already known as one of the state’s top attractions, the Birmingham Zoo is poised to become a national leader in the care and conservation of threatened elephants.

Find out more on our website as we celebrate another great addition to our community.
