How our 50th anniversary produced a new way to give back

January 14, 2011

Your Community Foundation is always looking for new ways to advance philanthropy and engage the community in driving positive change. That’s part of what we’ve been doing since 1959 and we wanted a way to take it to a new level as we celebrated our 50th anniversary.

So we asked our community how we could do even more for this place we call home. “Do the big things,” they said. “Take on transformational projects that can build a brighter future for the next generation.”

And so we created a new way for visionary individuals and families to pool their resources to do big things. We called these new resources Community Catalyst Funds to mark the special nature of the investments we plan to make.

We will continue to drive positive change with our Community Funds, the funds already endowed and used each year to make grants to our nonprofit partners across the five-county region. And now we will use Community Catalyst Funds to support, first, an idea competition called Prize2theFuture.

With success comes the opportunity to invest in more transformational opportunities and even more prizes as a way to generate more great ideas. Anyone can submit an idea and anyone can give to Community Catalyst Funds. We invite you to join us and be inspired as we begin our second 50 years!
