Railroad Park Ramble makes 10/10/10 a special day

October 8, 2010

From 1 to 3 p.m. this Sunday, Oct. 10, take a ramble over to Railroad Park — get there any way you can from your chosen spot — just don’t drive your car. Then, whether you walk, run, bike, rollerblade or skateboard, tell the Freshwater Land Trust about your trip and pose for a group photo in the park at 2:30 p.m.

People across the globe are celebrating 10/10/10 as a “Work Party for the Planet,” and this is a great way to show we care about ourselves and others. Then come back to the Alagasco Center for Energy Technology (First Ave. and 20th Street South) on 10/12/10 at 5:30 p.m. for the kickoff of “Our One Mile,” part of the work of the Freshwater Land Trust to connect our community’s favorite places by creating a comprehensive greenway master plan for Jefferson County.

Sponsors of the Railroad Park Ramble include FWLT, Jefferson County Health Action Partnership, League of Women Voters of Greater Birmingham, Operation New Birmingham, Railroad Park, Alabama Environmental Council and Conservation Alabama Foundation.
