Blueprint B’ham sets common direction for our shared success

September 28, 2010

What will you do to prepare a highly qualified workforce for our region? Or to make sure that we encourage diversity in our leadership and shared purpose among our many different communities? How can we build on the strengths of our geography and our climate? These are just a few of the questions awaiting our participation and our collective action as we take on the recommendations of the new economic development plan called Blueprint Birmingham.

Introduced last week in a great meeting at Railroad Park, Blueprint Birmingham includes four goal areas and a set of strategies that will require our common action over the next five years. The Birmingham Business Alliance will be the driving force, but this will require all of us to set a common direction in order to be successful.

Over the coming months, you can expect to see a lot about the new plan, which is available on line. You can also join a town hall meeting tonight at 6 p.m., hosted by the Birmingham Association of Black Journalists at the Alabama Power Auditorium, 600 18th Street North. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to help the Birmingham region fulfill its full potential, which is why we featured it this week as an asset of our community.
