Vulcan looks to future with wifi, interactive map

July 6, 2010

Birmingham’s super hero stands 56 feet tall and is more than 100 years old. He’s also very up to date, offering wifi access and the latest in technology in his own personal living room, the exhibit space at Vulcan Park and Museum.

Yes, Vulcan is our own personal iron man, a sculpture representing the Roman god of fire and forge. Created for a World’s Fair as a way to mark our role as a center for the iron and steel industry., the venerable statue looks over a community that is vastly changed today but still a leader in so many ways.

As thousands of visitors know, Vulcan Park and Museum has plenty of great historical exhibits, as well as an interactive map that provides plenty of evidence that we are headed toward a bright future.
