Free meal, free show with Food Inc. film June 18

June 17, 2010

West End Community Gardens, a project of Urban Ministry and Community Church Without Walls, is showing Food Inc. this Friday night as part of the Ingredients for Change Campaign, supported in part by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The idea is to raise awareness about the U.S. food system, access to food, childhood obesity and other problems which we are tackling locally as part of the Healthy Kids Healthy Communities Initiative.

Doors open at 5 p.m. at Mount Zion Full Gospel Baptist Church, 923 Graymont Ave West, with a community meal from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and the film showing from 6:45 to 7:30 p.m. Following the free show, you can join a discussion with panelists Dr. Sandra Ford, an internist; James Gibbs, physical fitness expert; Debbie Hamby, family nurse practitioner, and Virginia Ward, urban farmer.

Call 781-0517 to find out more. Learn about the movie on the Food Inc. website.
