10 years of revolutionary education at American Village

February 9, 2010

You don’t have to travel all the way to Concord, Massachusetts, or Williamsburg, Virginia, to get a taste of America’s founding moments. In fact, for the past decade, on a 113-acre campus in Montevallo, reenactors at American Village have been introducing students and other visitors to the fundamental principals of our Colonial and Revolutionary heritage.

Thousands have joined the crowds experiencing the first Constutional Convention or feeling the fervor of a real 1776 Independence Day every July 4th. Join them by marching with a Revolutionary soldier across an open field or talking one on one with Abigail Adams or Benjamin Franklin, our own special hero, since he set up a grantmaking fund that is part of a community foundation today.

American Village is quickly becoming a national treasure, so join the celebration today and spread the word about this special part of our community. We’re proud to include this as #16 out of 50 Ways to Love Our Community.
