Overview session one week from today

January 21, 2010

If you represent a nonprofit organization serving Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair, Walker or Blount counties, you have a great idea and a great opportunity to apply for a grant from the Community Foundation. A week from today is your next chance to find out, by joining with other local nonprofits in a grant overview session presented by Senior Program Officer James McCrary and other Community Foundation staff.

In fact, if your organization has never applied for a grant before, you are required to attend before you do. That’s the best way to find out if what your organization is doing fits with the priorities which our community has set for itself.

“We invite nonprofit representatives to learn more about how to apply for a grant from Community Funds,” McCrary said. “Community Funds serves the most pressing needs of our community and support the greatest opportunities to make life better in greater Birmingham.”

First, contact our staff, providing information about the name of your organization and the representatives who will attend. State the area you serve and whether you have ever applied for a grant from The Community Foundation before. Also list the date of the session you wish to attend. And, before you arrive, review the grant guidelines on our website.

When your reservation is confirmed, come on down to the Community Foundation office, 2100 First Avenue North, Suite 700, in downtown Birmingham. The next grant application deadline is March 15, 2010.

Upcoming grant overview sessions are set for:
– Thursday, January 28, at 9 a.m.
– Wednesday, February 10, at 9 a.m.
– Tuesday, February 16, at 1 p.m.
– Wednesday, February 24, at 1 p.m.
