Nation’s first PBS affiliates still teaching Alabama

January 5, 2010

Alabama Public Television was the first statewide educational network in the nation and the model for 20 other states. And it’s still an example of innovation, reaching 4.4 million Alabamians with programs that inspire and teach.

Three separate digital channels today offers viewers the opportunity to develop new skills or plan a trip, as well as to explore the traditional strengths of programming designed for children and families. What began in 1953 as a way to provide educational resources for teachers is now an important partner to learning at all levels.
