Blog-A-Thon focuses on domestic violence issues

October 5, 2009

Do you want to add to the conversation about domestic violence? If you’re already blogging, we’ve got an opportunity for you to join us on October 7 and interview judges, lawyers, police officers, domestic violence advocates and social workers who are on the front lines of this important issue.

We’ll be there too, from 3 to 7 p.m. in the NBC13 Conference Room, for the special focus on domestic violence, and we’ll be adding more attention to the topic during the next two weeks.

Holly Hilton, who is organizing the first-time event, invites you to blog about domestic violence from your point of view any time between October 1-15. If you link to The Women’s Fund of Greater Birmingham (a component fund of the Community Foundation), she will link to you.

Yes, it’s partly about money, because it takes dollars to make grants that have been successful so far in creating system change in our community. In fact, the Voices Against Violence initiative recently won a national award for its efforts.

Here the key dates and how you can help:
Register today if you want to attend the Oct. 7 event at NBC13 and have your blog highlighted for your role in this cause.
Blog, tweet and post messages on Facebook on Oct. 7 to help drive traffic to the
conversation.
Keep the conversation going, Oct. 1-15, leading up to the Voices Against Violence celebration and announcement of this year’s fundraising and grantmaking success.
