Will you blog with us on Oct. 7?

October 2, 2009

Participants and planners for a special New Media Press Event next week met today at NBC13 to talk about how to get an important conversation going — a conversation about domestic violence. Find out how to participate at The Women’s Fund of Greater Birmingham, a component fund of the Community Foundation, and join us by listening or contributing to the conversation.

The day is Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 3 to 7 p.m., and the occasion is a blog-a-thon, Blogging Against Domestic Violence 2009. Follow our hashtag on Twitter #wfundbham, on this blog or on a number of other blogs in our community and beyond.

Thanks to NBC13 for helping us showcase what bloggers have to say about the important issues of domestic violence and the nationally recognized work of Voices Against Violence, a giving circle of the Women’s Fund. Newscasts will highlight ways that you can be part of the conversation, as bloggers interrview local judges, police officers, social workers and others.

Contact Holly Hilton at The Women’s Fund to find out more about this groundbreaking use of social media to raise dollars and awareness on such an important issue. See you there! And don’t forget to give for the Voices Against Violence initiative.
