Ecoscape charrette invites everybody’s opinion

September 24, 2009

What do you know about ecoscapes? And what can you contribute to create one in North Birmingham?

Don’t worry what you know and what you don’t. If you care about making your community a healthier and more attractive place to live, planners want your opinion about the best way to do that, and a charrette is a great way to let the creative ideas flow.

Join others who care about improving opportunities for healthy living at a Design Charrette for the North Birmingham Ecoscape Project, this Friday, September 25, from 3 to 5 p.m. Participants will gather on the vacant lot between Wachovia Bank and the histoic North Birmingham Bank Building (formerly AmSouth) between 26th and 27th Street on 30th Avenue North.

Sponsors of the project include the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham and the Jefferson County Department of Health, through the Health Action Partnerships, alnog with the Southern Environmental Center, Alabama Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, Main Street Birmingham, North Birmingham Merchants Association and Muhammad University of Islam.

For more information or to sign up, contact Mary Allison Haynie, Community Program Director for Main Street Birmingham.
