Looking for help with operating costs?

August 17, 2009

This year, as a change from our usual policy for making grants, the Community Foundation is offering limited support for operations if your nonprofit organization is serving Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair, Walker or Blount counties. As Senior Program Officer James McCrary said, times are tough and we want to make sure that our important nonprofit partners survive in the face of reduced support from donors and other funders.

The grant proposal still must fit within the guidelines and priorities of the Community Foundation, as well as additional requirements for these operating grants. Check out what we mean on our website, or contact James with any questions at 327-3812.

And make sure that your organization has at one point attended an overview session to learn about our whole grant process. We still have one session scheduled on Thursday, August 27, at 1 p.m. at the Community Foundation office, 2100 First Avenue South, Suite 700, in downtown Birmingham.

Seating is limited, so reservations are required by phone to 205-327-3813 or e-mail to JohnQueta Bailey. We need to know your name and the name of your organization, the area you serve and the date you want to attend. Let us hear your great ideas and together we’ll keep working to make life better for everyone.
