Saturday free day for fun, thanks to local arts groups

July 14, 2009

Who knew that arts and culture provided $125 million a year in salaries, taxes and other spending to benefit our community? And here we were thinking that all we got out of the symphony, museum, theatre or other institutions was a great night out.

According to Buddy Palmer, president and CEO of the Cultural Alliance of Greater Birmingham, our community has a strong arts and culture community relative to our size. And we know from all the great Imagine statements that people want more of the same.

So show your love for the creative organizations and artists that enrich our community today by coming out for Member Day on Saturday, July 18. Get your card punched by five organizations and you may win a cultural prize package worth $1,800. See you there!
