Philanthropy awards show off best in our region

June 22, 2009

On November 12, 2009, our community will honor philanthropic leadership in our region at National Philanthropy Day, sponsored by the state chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Again this year, The Community Foundation will sponsor the Outstanding Professional Advisor Award, awarded to recognize the important role that attorneys, accountants, financial advisors and others play in the world of philanthropy.

In addition to the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham Professional Advisor, AFP each year honors:
– The William M. and Virginia B. Spencer Outstanding Philanthropist
– Outstanding Civic Leader
– Outstanding Corporate Citizen
– The William S. Roth Outstanding Fundraising Executive
– Outstanding Charitable Organization
– Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy

July 3, 2009, is the deadline for submitting nominations for this and the other six awards. To do so, click here for on-line nomination through the AFP website. This is your chance to honor someone who is very special to this community, an individual, family or organization whose giving heart helps to change the world, as NPD reminds us every year.

And you can follow the progress of National Philanthropy Day on Twitter @NPDAlabama. This is just one more way we work together to make our community a better place for everyone, by honoring the philanthropists who demonstrate their love for greater Birmingham every day.
