Speak your mind on statewide bike trails
Birmingham offers challenges for bicycle riders, considering the many hills that surround our city center. And we’re always looking for new ways to safely negotiate the busy streets and incorporate this healthy activity into our daily lives.
So it’s exciting to see a report in The Birmingham News about a plan for bicycle paths to cross our state, a way to connect planned bicycle and pedestrian routes with journeys far beyond city and county lines. If that idea appeals to you, take time on February 18 to speak up at a local public hearing by the Alabama Department of Transportation, set for 5 to 7 p.m. at the Third Division Office, 1020 Bankhead Highway.
Other meetings are set for Montgomery, Mobile and Huntsville, so there are plenty of opportunities to let your voice be heard.
