UAB Hospital programs make list of ‘bests’

The dynamic medical and economic engine known as UAB once again puts us on a list of bests, this time with eight UAB Hospital specialty programs making the list published by U.S. News & World Report.

It’s great to have bragging rights, for example, that the UAB Hospital rheumatology program ranks eighth out of programs offered by 4,861 hospitals in 16 different categories. We can be proud that these are national rankings, part of U.S. News’ annual edition featuring “America’s Best Hospitals.”

Kidney disorders, geriatrics, respiratory disorders, cancer, urology, gynecology and heart/heart surgery programs also ranked in the top 30, based on a variety of different rating systems, according the report in The Birmingham News.

Each of these programs represents so many individuals, equipment and facilities, right here on Birmingham’s Southeside. Imagine the lives saved and forever changed because people from our community — and from so many other places — were able to get top quality care from this amazing medical center.
